A rare glimpse inside the Essex silk factory that produces luxurious home furnishings for the monarchs of the world.
Anglia TV visit Warner & Sons, textile manufacturers, offering a rare glimpse inside the factory in Essex credited for putting East Anglia on the map as the centre of the silk weaving industry. Warner & Sons had a reputation for producing high-class furnishing silks, and John Tibbitts, grandson to Frank Warner, tells how the family business produced textiles for all the royal families in the world, including Haile Selassie and Queen Elizabeth.
Much-loved TV presenter Dick Joice introduces this episode from the “Bygones Encore” series which aired in the early eighties, a companion to the popular "Bygones" series of programmes that explored East Anglian history and traditional crafts produced for Anglia TV.
