The Gaze
An experimental documentary on racial profiling by Swedish police.
Overview
The Gaze takes its point of departure in the experience of being racialised, a position that must continuously relate itself to the criminalisation and/or exotification of one’s own body. In April Lin 林森, Ali al Derwish and Lizette Romero's experimental documentary , the gaze is returned back and directed towards the Police and the authorities, making them the observed object. It is an act that aims to renegotiate the relations of subordinance in a supposedly judicial society that fails at protecting its black and brown citizens from the Police.
