Racing bikes and spectators at the renowned road race.
Started in 1927, the Carrowdore 100 was once one of Northern Ireland's premier motor-racing events. This film shows the competitors undertaking last minute preparations as they check and tweak their bikes prior to the race. Then, the hurly burly as they accelerate from the grid and take the first corners, jockeying for position.
Rushes by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The Carrowdore 100 consisted of a 5½ mile road circuit which started on the Greyabbey to Millisle Road and continued down the coast road. After World War II, the Tourist Trophy race moved to Dundrod, but after a couple of years the race moved back to Carrowdore, with the start in the village and the course running to just outside Greyabbey and back to Carrowdore.
