Greenaway’s COI-commissioned profile of revolutionary inventor and business entrepreneur, Terence Conran.

1981 14 mins

Overview

Conran is a revolutionary business entrepreneur – furniture designer and founder of Habitat, architect, interior designer, writer and restaurateur – and was the ideal choice for the Central Office of Information-commissioned Insight series. This personality-based format focused on promoting to an overseas audience the established British business-savvy talents of the day. Only two years after the making of this film in 1983, Conran was awarded a knighthood for his contribution to the design industry.

Includes a bold score from renowned composer and Greenaway-collaborator, Michael Nyman (The Draughtsman’s Contract and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover).
