Overview

In 1972 the village of Chadlington in Oxfordshire had its water supply changed from the centuries old spring water to a piped supply from a nearby reservoir. As Chris Tarrant found out the following year, local people were not at all happy with the change. He finds a disgruntled population variously describing the new water as 'bureaucracy’s processed sewerage' and even more bluntly: "Filth!". It was even blamed for killing off someone's poor goldfish.
