Members of the Deaf community share their experiences of working in Belfast factories.
Overview
Join local employers and members of Northern Ireland’s Deaf community to discuss working life in Belfast. These news rushes were filmed in the Sirocco Works and an Embroidery Factory for an Ulster Television feature ‘The Deaf in Industry’. This item was intended to challenge assumptions and encourage other employers to consider diversifying their workforce. The tone of the questions and some of the answers are characteristic of reporting during the 1970s.
