Overview
British Television angling correspondent Ted Tuckerman joins a group of fisherman on the isle of Portland in Dorset. Durdle Pier is a popular location for sea-angling and although catches have changed over the years wrasse, codling, sea bass and bream are still caught. The species here are more rockling or ling, and black bream and the catch is weighed at the end of the day. In the background, Royal Naval ships pass in the day.
Devon's Ted Tuckerman is a famous angler and as a former England international, Ted competed in world shore and boat angling championships and was manager of the England international angling team. Ted presented TV Westward's Tight Lines angling programme for almost 20 years and was a reporter for the Westward Diary, the South West's television news programme. Ted became chair of the National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA) which is based in Newton Abbot. The Royal Navy base at Portland with dockyard, refuelling and training facilities closed between 1996 and 1999.
