Kilts and rifles - and bicycles - adorn this sombre parade of Scottish soldiers bound for South Africa and the battlegrounds of the second Boer War. The war supplied much subject matter for Victorian filmmakers, and 'embarkation' films like this one were a staple genre around this time.
