Overview

Deer culling still takes place every year in Richmond Park today, but one doubts it would be celebrated quite so brazenly as on this newsreel, which features a single horsebound rider stalking and shooting at terrified stags and doe at a foggy Richmond Park. Somewhat alarming by today’s standards, it’s undoubtedly dramatic, as a scene from the Scottish glens is played out in the London suburbs.
