The Box is a major cultural and heritage attraction and archive, which opened in Plymouth’s city centre in September 2020. Its collection, formally the South West Film and Television Archive (SWFTA), is the regional film archive for the South West of England, comprising the combined programme libraries of Westward Television and Television South West (TSW). It also includes a significant number of donated film collections dating back to the early 1890s.

Happy Birthday Marines; members of the RM Logistic Regiment take part in a log race on the streets of Stonehouse in Plymouth to celebrate the corps’ birthday. This film shows members of the Royal Marine Commando Logistic Regiment CLR racing in teams carrying a log around the streets of Stonehouse near 3 Commando Brigade’s barracks in Plymouth. They are celebrating the regiment’s birthday.
Stonehouse barracks is the home to 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines and the 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group. The barracks itself built in 1779 is the longest serving military barracks in Europe. The CLR provides all second line combat to all Royal Marines combatants. Under the leadership of Brigadier Jeremy Moore 1977-1979, they train to supply during combat s including food, ammunition, fuel and water. The CLR consists of members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Corps of Transport and Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
