Overview
Impressionistic homage to the iron horses of yesteryear. From shots of long-forgotten locomotives in the Woodham Brothers Scrapyard, Barry (an engine graveyard) is created an illusion - a dream - of a loco rising again and taking to the rails for one final journey, passing (as if in revenge?) the 'British Railways Western Region' building. As dreams do, however, it fades, vanquished by reality.
Film created by Harley Jones and Chris Bellinger. Harley worked as a film editor, from 1963-1966 on John Grierson’s weekly Scottish Television programme 'This Wonderful World' and was the first course leader – and shaper of – the Newport Film Unit at the Newport College of Art and Design (1966-82). Chris was a film editor and producer and became head of children’s entertainment at the BBC.
