Release the Jailed Miners!

Wives and mothers call for the release of miners jailed during the Miners' Strike.

Campaigning film 1984 40 mins

Overview

Women's voices predominate in this film made soon after the end of Miners' Strike in 1984, campaigning for the release of miners jailed during the strike and the reinstatement of those who were sacked. Many of the women are speaking on behalf of their husbands and sons, and they talk about how they have become politicised without realising it, and their shock at "the lies of the media".
