A particularly enigmatic fragment of Jubilee film.
Of all the films shot at the Jubilee, few survive; of all that survive, this film remains an enigma. An estimated forty plus cinematograph cameras were operating during the procession, and yet only a handful of the films exist today. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised, film was a money making business and not aimed at posterity. Given the exhibition practices prevalent at the time, and the fragility of nitrate film, every fragment should be cherished, even if it eludes precise identification.
