Pageant of Leicester
From the Romans to the Victorians: Leicester's history on show.

Overview
Leicester was riding through the depression relatively unscathed and council officials saw a pageant as an opportunity to steal a march on local rivals. Taking in such diverse scenes as Roman soldiers and Stephenson's Rocket the spectacle is muted on film, although viewers that make it through the somewhat stilted scenes will be rewarded with a procession celebrating local industry and a bullock roast attended by Leicester based black heavyweight boxer Larry Gains.
