Out With The Whelk Fishers
Amateur production in colour of the skipper and crew of the Amethyst LN62, and their whelk fishing expedition off Brancaster in 1958.
From the collection of:

Overview
Amateur filmmaker Peter Scoles went out with the skipper and crew in one of the whelk boats off Brancaster, Norfolk with his 8mm cine camera, and came back with this wonderful record in 1958. This colour film shows the Amethyst LN62 leaving on the last of the tide, and heading for the whelk grounds ten or fifteen miles off shore. Not just whelks, but also crabs, sea urchins, and starfish appear among their haul. The film ends with beautiful shots of Brancaster Staithe at sunset.
