An urgently filmed appeal for organ donation.
There’s an impressive sense of urgency to this 1993 organ donor appeal. The black and white photography, hand-held cameras and snappy editing emphasise movement and tension, giving a sense of the vital drama behind organ donation. But it’s balanced with an easy-going voice-over (which sounds as if it’s provided by Quadrophenia’s Phil Daniels) that tries to convey a sense of everyday normality to the notion of carrying a donor card.
This government film is a public record, preserved and presented by the BFI National Archive on behalf of The National Archives, home to more than 1,000 years of British history.
