Overview
The decaying brickwork, sagging roofs, and rotting window frames show us why these old terraces are no longer fit for habitation, but there are still people living here, patiently waiting for their turn to be rehoused.
In the 1960s, the City of Salford undertook a huge programme of slum clearance, demolishing many streets of condemned terraces, and replacing them with new homes and tower blocks. Michael Goodger, from Salford University, shot many hours of film footage documenting the transformation of the area.
