Overview
South London, Bexleyheath, and one of life's most memorable occasions is captured on celluloid. After mother and new-born leave the Bexley Maternity Hospital - then part of the NHS and closed in 1978 - the films paints a wonderful portrait of 1960s domesticity. Scenes show the new arrival meeting older sister and grandparents, as well as ice cream eating and games in the garden.
