Overview

The Davies family of ‘Dolclettwr’, Taliesin, Ceredigion are giving up their dairy herd and Mrs Gwen Davies here records the milk tanker arriving at the farm for the very last time. Early morning milking is going to be a thing of the past! Also filmed are sheep at ‘Carnguwch Bach’, Llithfaen, Pwllheli, farmed by brothers Richard and Ifan Ellis (the latter marrying Mrs Davies’ daughter, Kathryn), Carnguwch Church, and a wedding at Llangynfelyn Church, Ceredigion.

Mary Gwendoline Jane Davies, known as Gwen, is one of the few female camera operators behind home movie footage in The National Screen and Sound Archive’s film collection - it was usually 'Dad' who did the shooting. She recorded family and community events and it was fortunate that she deposited her original material at the Archive before ‘Dolclettwr’ was badly damaged by a fire which consumed the video copies the Archive had provided her with. The wedding shown here was that of Iona Lewis of Taliesin at Llangynfelyn Church, near Borth, Ceredigion.
