A holidaying family captures the picturesque Devon coastal village of Lynmouth, both before and after a tragic flood event.

Overview

On the 15 August 1952 a torrential rainstorm caused an extraordinary rush of water to drench the coastal village of Lynmouth, where the West and East Lyn rivers meet. The Wetton family had filmed themselves passing through a series of picture-postcard views there during a Devon holiday trip, but a return journey after the disaster reveals scenes more reminiscent of a war zone.
