Overview

The Topical Budget cameras rarely missed the chance to attend the annual May Queen ceremony at Hayes Common. Here, a 13-year-old from Acton called Nora Rowland takes the crown, surrounded by children carrying floral garlands and banners as they march from the church to common before she takes her throne. Best of the lot is the shot of a pair of sweet under-10s, the boy comically attired in an oversized top hat.
