Lady and Puppies

Four wriggling puppies make for more than an armful - as a young woman discovers in this charming short film

Interest film 1901 1 mins Silent

Early movies were all about the pleasures of spectacle and movement, so what could be a better use of a few feet of film than these adorable puppies? The young lady in the bonnet and bows valiantly tries to hold all the doggies in a loving squeeze, but they're excitable creatures, which seems to amuse her as much as it does us. Cute puppies are a perennial joy but this film in particular evokes the classic Pears Soap advertising of the early 20th century.
