Overview

Humble dough is mixed and shaped, dropped into hot oil, fried and glazed. By this process the workers in Kennedy's bakery transform the most basic of ingredients into a taste classic. The doughnut's association with Northern Ireland goes back to WWII. At one point around 300,000 American military personnel - known informally as doughboys - were stationed in Ulster. They shared their love of the sweet snack with the locals.
