Julius Caesar
Forceful staging of the famous forum scene from Shakespeare's tragedy about honour and betrayal in ancient Rome.
Overview
A staging of Act III Scene 2 from Shakespeare's celebrated tragedy about honour and betrayal in ancient Rome, with spirited performances from Leo Genn and Felix Aylmer as Mark Antony and Brutus. In this famous forum scene, Caesar has just been murdered and Antony and Brutus address the gathering mob of Roman citizens. The scene is played in its entirety except for the omission of a short passage at the end between Antony and a servant.
This is one of two short films produced under the umbrella title Famous Scenes from Shakespeare, the other of which, Macbeth, can also be seen on BFI Player.
