Overview

In May 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew solo non-stop from New York to Paris in his custom-built plane, Spirit Of St Louis. This caused a sensation, as can be seen by the crowds awaiting his arrival days later in London. Thousands assembled to see Lindbergh, and the film captures the joyful, anarchic spirit. Note the sole policeman, forlornly trying to stop onrushing crowds from mobbing the pilot, and the three lads on the roof of the pavilion, clapping loud approval as he passes.
