Overview
Enjoy a courtside view of young tennis stars battling it out on the famous courts of Wimbledon. Despite the patronising tone of this Topical Budget newsreel item, the 'flappers' in this match are playing high-level tennis. Betty Nuthall, seen first here, won the Junior Championship in 1924, 1925 and 1926, and even competed in the ladies' singles in 1926, aged just 15. She went on to play doubles with partners including Fred Perry.
