        Overview

Be it "bevel testing" or "jig boring" this film of Norwich family firm Laurence, Scott & Electromotors Ltd, reveals the work behind the creation of their equipment and show a range of their products such as analogue and electrical computers. Started in 1883 this 1950 film reports 4,000 personnel in 6 factories serving markets across the world.

In the early days, Laurence, Scott supplied electric light to Colman's mustard plant. It continued as an electric motor company, and became successful, supplying electrical equipment for the Titanic and The Empress of Britain. The company can be credited with the idea for a traffic controlling mechanism - which eventually became traffic lights, and still operates today as ATB Laurence Scott.
