Duck herding dog
Duck round up for a shepherd and his sheepdog
In partnership with:

Overview
Shepherd Stan Hill uses his dogs to herd ducks not sheep. Quacker or Duck herding (querding) is a training tool for the space conscious farmer. Herding ducks or geese with a sheepdog probably came about by accident. An intelligent border collie breed of dog helping out on the farm is useful rounding up any animal.
Of course there are some quacking competitions up and down the country gracing county shows. A shepherd adds to a skillset and increases income through performing rights and appearance fees. Shepherds are able to show off querding skills and a dog's flexibility at the drop of a whistle. Duck herding does come with fowl complications. Ducks and geese are more fragile than sheep and if a female is carrying eggs and they break inside her it could be less than smashing.
