A pipe band and skiffle group performing Lonnie Donegan's latest hit 'My Old Man's a Dustman' lead the way in Aldridge's annual carnival.
An August Bank Holiday in the early 1960s and Aldridge in Staffordshire (now in Walsall) is holding its annual carnival. A common event and film of the era with its children's sack races and the ever popular dog agility display. The sheer number of films such as this that continue to be discovered provides us with an ever growing picture of mid-twentieth century shared experiences - the delight in celebration even shines through the less-than-ideal 8mm quality .
This record of events was shot by local man Don Brown who was a member of the Aldridge Photographic Society.
