Body
A young woman travels into the depths of a mysterious, dark building, searching for a body trapped in limbo.
Overview
A modern retelling of the myth of Antigone, Body follows a young Black woman as she attempts to retrieve the body of a family member from a sinister institutional building. Commissioned in 1994 by the BFI Production Board and Channel 4, and broadcast as part of Channel 4’s Out of Blue series of innovative short films, this tense, slow-burn drama is a masterclass in pacing and narrative build, ending in a shocking confrontation that reveals much about systemic oppression.
The film is presented here in a new edit, revised from the original broadcast version by the filmmaker in 2020.
