Arcadian Follies at Selsey
Long lazy summers feature in this evocative film from 1936 – with seaside antics, tennis and a look at some unusual homes peculiar to the area
From the collection of:

Overview
We begin at Arcadia - a beach house from which several guests emerge before dashing into the sea. After a swim we see a mixed group play tennis while the grandads play bowls. A raft is pushed out to sea, provides endless fun as a diving platform. The flat landscape around Selsey is seen, along with a windmill, before we get several views of beach homes converted from redundant railway carriages. Peculiar to this part of the Sussex coast we also get a glimpse of Arcadia.
