Anti-smoking Campaign: Artery - Clogged

One of the most gruesomely memorable of all British anti-smoking promos depicts fat oozing out of nonchalant smokers' cigarettes.

Shock tactics are always the bread-and-butter of anti-smoking campaigns and this memorable promo from 2003 certainly imprints a grisly image upon the viewer. Nonchalant smokers continue to enjoy their cigarettes even as melting fat oozes out of them. The visual correlation between tube-shaped cigarettes and fat-clogged arteries (smoking is known to be a cause of atherosclerosis) is clever and highly effective - a tactic to make all but the most hardened viewer recoil in disgust.
