10 minutes in Brighton

Roy Sellen's film shows Brighton's seafront at the end of the seventies - a mixture of images showing the old, the new and the soon to disappear

Roy Sellen's impressionistic film captures Brighton at the tail end of the 1970s. His accomplished filming starts with visitors walking along the promenade, looking at both the Palace and West Piers. A windsurfer passes by as we visit the Palace Pier and the newly opened Brighton Marina, where many yachts are berthed. After seeing radio-controlled models in action we visit the Pavilion and Old Steine Gardens. Then it's off to the fair before ending with boats on the beach.
