Sympathy for the Devil 15 rating

Jean-Luc Godard intercuts footage of The Rolling Stones composing their classic Sympathy for the Devil with punchy agitprop sketches on the global anti-imperialist struggle.

              Documentary 1968 101 mins

              Director: Jean-Luc Godard

              Overview

Shot in London in the summer of 1968, Jean-Luc Godard's film (aka One Plus One) juxtaposes two distinct elements that the viewer must bring together into dialogue. Fascinating extended takes portraying The Rolling Stones in the studio composing their classic Sympathy for the Devil are intercut with punchy agitprop sketches addressing contemporary issues such as Black Power and the global anti-imperialist struggle. The result is one of the most powerful pictures from Godard's late '60s political period.
