Soaked in psychoanalytical symbols and arresting imagery (drifting jellyfish, a levitating woman) this modern-day fairy tale is a bold experiment in female subjectivity, as Menkes attempts to make visible – and cinematic – the inner psychic transformation of her enigmatic heroine.
