The Golden Bear-winning film in Haugerud’s Oslo Stories trilogy sees teenager Johanne put pen to paper as she falls in love with her teacher.
17-year-old Johanne develops a crush on her French teacher and writes about it to cope with the intensity of her feelings. When her mother and grandmother come across her notes, they react with praise at her literary prowess, but also begin to feel increasingly troubled by what really happened between the student and her teacher.
Part of the Oslo Stories Trilogy: Dreams Love Sex, director Dag Johan Haugerud won a clutch of awards for this film, including the Golden Bear, at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival.
