What Makes Johnnie Run?
Athletes competing for selection for the 1968 Olympics reveal what motivates them to train, and what spurs them on to win.
Director: Grahame Turner
Overview
This Rediffusion TV documentary visits Font Romeu, a new high altitude training facility in the French Pyrenees where British athletes are preparing for selection for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Featuring candid commentary from runners, a decathlete and the "unsung eccentrics of athletics", race walkers, the film gives a rare and fascinating insight into the lives of athletes competing in the amateur era of the Games.
