The Band Wagon

The problems of staging a big theatre production is the backdrop to this gorgeous, gloriously colourful musical.

Former Hollywood song-and-dance man Tony Hunter (Fred Astaire) struggles to make his comeback, this time on Broadway. Complications arise in the form of a pretentious director-producer (Jack Buchanan) and clashes with his co-star, prima ballerina Gabrielle Gerard (Cyd Charisse). Will the stars overcome their creative differences to produce a musical hit, or will the joke be on them?
