Chaplin sends up the movie business itself, playing a scene-stealing actor, David, in constant conflict with a tyrannical studio boss called Goliath.

        Comedy 1916 24 mins Silent

        Director: Charles Chaplin

        Overview

In this send up of the movie business, Chaplin plays a scene-stealing actor, David, in constant conflict with a tyrannical studio boss called Goliath.

Chaplin had previously sent up moviemaking in shorts for Keystone and Essanay, but here he includes notable gag aimed at the practises of his former employer Mack Sennett.
