At Last the 1948 Show (Series 2 episode 6)
The penultimate show, which famously features the original and best rendition of the classic ‘Four Yorkshiremen’ sketch.
Director: Ian Fordyce
Overview
Consideration of the penultimate show will inevitably be dominated by the presence of the original and best rendition of the classic ‘Four Yorkshiremen’ sketch, ever since indelibly associated with Monty Python. But there is much else to admire here, including another outing for Sydney Lotterby, Tim Brooke-Taylor’s chartered accountant dance and a surreal piece involving a dentist climbing inside his patient’s mouth.
The show was previously reconstructed almost complete, apart from one of Aimi MacDonald’s contributions, but that was superseded by the recovery presented here – not only a complete telerecording but one with much better visual quality.
