45 Years
One of the most acclaimed British features of recent years, starring Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay as a couple rocked by news from the past.
Director: Andrew Haigh
Overview
Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay excel as a seemingly stable couple preparing for their 45th anniversary who are rocked by news of an ex-girlfriend. Andrew Haigh’s follow-up feature to the acclaimed gay romance Weekend is a wry, witty, truthful drama notable for its subtle script and direction and its expressive use of Norfolk’s landscape and weather.
Winner of two major prizes following its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival 2015, Haigh here establishes himself as a significant talent, crafting a controlled relationships drama reminiscent of late Ingmar Bergman (but with laughs!) that ranks as one of the finest British films of recent years. 45 Years was made with the support of the BFI using funds from the National Lottery.
