Cromer Crabs

An educational film about crab fishing at Cromer; from capture in a man-made crab pot to the shop counter ready for sale.

A Norfolk County Council film that provides an insightful look at crabbing in Cromer, once a thriving industry. Filmmaker Peter Hollingham joins skipper Richard Davies to capture on film the whole process of the fisherman catching crabs and lobsters. Then, in a Cromer workshop, a traditional crabpot is constructed. Once caught, the crabs must be graded by size, scrubbed, cooked, and dressed, ready for the shop counter and then the dinner table.
