The Library Suicides
Stylish, intricate and intelligent thriller about twins avenging their mother’s death in the National Library of Wales.
Director: Euros Lynn
Overview
This stylish, intricate and intelligent thriller about twins avenging their mother’s death is set entirely in the National Library of Wales, and is also a rare Welsh-language feature film. When famous author Elena Wdig commits suicide, her twin daughters, librarians Nan and Ana are bereft. After learning of a clue Elena left in her dying words, the twins return to the library to avenge their mother’s death, but the intervention of a night porter alters their plans.
Award-winning TV director Euros Lyn (Broadchurch, Happy Valley) has adapted Fflur Dafydd’s bestselling novel (Y Llyfrgell) with pace and panache, presenting a distinctive mixture of offbeat thriller and philosophical mystery. Riffing on notions of Identity, performance, and storytelling, Lyn unravels his serpentine story at breakneck speed, but the result is a steady composed and assured piece of filmmaking.
