The Box is a major cultural and heritage attraction and archive, which opened in Plymouth’s city centre in September 2020. Its collection, formally the South West Film and Television Archive (SWFTA), is the regional film archive for the South West of England, comprising the combined programme libraries of Westward Television and Television South West (TSW). It also includes a significant number of donated film collections dating back to the early 1890s.

Scenes at Buckland Monochorum’s village fete where folk dancing and festivities are held in a neighbouring field. The village is situated beside the River Tavy. The estate was owned by William de Poilley, who owned 17 estates in southern Devon as a tenant-in-chief to William the Conqueror. Near to the historic home of Sir Francis Drake is Buckland Abbey. The property was originally a Cistercian Abbey founded in 1278 by Amicia, the Countess of Devon.
Buckland Monochrorum is home to historic architectural gems. The village’s 12th Century Parish Church is dedicated to St Andrew and the resting place of the defender of Gibraltar, Lord Heathfield and members of Sir Francis Drake’s family. The Gift House is an Almshouse built by a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, the popular gardens known as the Garden House is ten acres of land with 6000 plant species and known as one of the most romantic gardens in England.
