Overview

Croft is a large village in the Blaby district of Leicester. Village carnivals may have been in gradual decline throughout the 1960s but Croft seems to be bucking the trend with a good turn-out in 1968. A float marking the fiftieth anniversary of votes for women is topical but the biggest crowds are reserved for those carnival favourites: the police dog display and the dare devil high dive. Alwyne Watson is the local film-maker capturing events on 8mm.
