The Media Archive for Central England is the public screen archive for the East and West Midlands. An independent charity and company based at the University of Lincoln, MACE acquires, catalogues, preserves and makes widely available moving image materials that inform our understanding of the diverse cultures and histories of communities between the Lincolnshire coast and the Welsh border.

Overview
Reporter John Withington does battle with the traffic that assaults the senses daily in the village of Shilton in Warwickshire. Only ten miles away in Leicestershire is Sharnford, which enjoys peace and tranquillity thanks to traffic free roads, a result of the opening of the first stage of the new M69 Coventry to Leicester road. The road, when completed, will take the traffic away from Shilton too but for now it's a story of traffic, fumes and danger.
The people of Shilton didn't have long to wait as the M69 was fully opened on 12 July 1977 by the Parliamentary Secretary in the Department of Transport John Horam.
