The Building of a Locomotive at Crewe
A 1920 mistitled re-release of the construction of a Great Western Railway 'Star' Class locomotive at Swindon.
Overview
Don’t be fooled by the titles: this film shows the construction of a ‘Star’ class locomotive, No. 4041 Prince of Wales, at Swindon in 1913. Clearly William Baker was not a man with railway knowledge, as his company retitled this 1913 film to suggest the loco was built at Crewe. Perhaps the audience were not railway folk either, as this titled has been in use since 1920!
