The Private Life of Don Juan
Husbands lock up their wives when the renowned Romeo returns to Seville; but the man wooing the city’s ladies is not what he seems.
Overview
Husbands lock up their wives when the renowned Romeo returns to Seville; but the man wooing the city’s ladies is not what he seems. Following the huge success of The Private Life of Henry VIII, Alexander Korda saw the change to get more mileage from the format. Ageing swashbuckler Douglas Fairbanks was inspired casting for the role of the legendary lothario in his latter years and the actor gamely pokes fun at his own reputation. At the age of 51 Fairbanks could still leap balcony railings with ease but, sadly, this was his last screen performance.
