Overview

With soldiers marauding over the battlements this lively historic re-enactment covers much ground: from the arrival of Christianity through to visits by the 1st Duke of Lancaster, the Plantagenet John of Gaunt, and up to Tutbury Castle's association with Mary Queen of Scots. Mary complained of damp, wet plaster and draughty ill fitting carpentry at Tutbury on her enforced stay in 1569. Perhaps that's why her ghost still haunts the Staffordshire ruin.
