This Is Derby
Nostalgic snapshot of the town of Derby in the mid 1960s.
From the collection of:

Overview
Shot on silent 8mm film by teacher Norman Fitchett this tour of Derby is a great nostalgic look at the town in the mid 1960s. From the policeman on point duty to the trolley bus wires, this film is notable not for the historic landmarks (many of which like the Cathedral are unchanged today) but for the more transient features of the town like the concrete Main Centre precinct and the 1930s bus station, both of which have succumbed to the perpetual process of urban renewal.
The film was produced as a project involving pupils from Pear Tree Junior School in Derby.
